The Portobello Village Show for 2010 was a great success from many
perspectives. First and foremost we were graced by a lovely sunny day and this brought out a record number of people.
The duck races and dog parade proved immensely popular with children and adults alike as did the Fire Engine (many thanks to the Fire Brigade for coming!).
As in previous years the standard of ingenuity that goes into the
creation of some of the judged entries was truly impressive, not to
mention the quality of the home baking which was of a real high
This year's tug of war brought out the competitive spirit of all
those involved, even from the other end of the park the levels of
screaming encouragement that could be heard was testimony to the
excitement of all involved.
The pedal powered Cinema was a welcome addition to the Village show and captured the attention of everybody as the pedal power of two bikes provided the electricity for the children's cinema.
Music was provided by the Spurtle Ceilidh Band and Horndog Brass
Band, they were both appreciated by everyone.
Many thanks go out to all those that donated cakes to the pod event, and to all those who took time to create entries for all the judged competitions, which all go to make the fun and interest for the day.
And finally a big thanks to all those who give up their time to make
the day a success that it was.
